The overarching goal of my research is to advance understanding of the processes underlying visual attention and perception during development (from infancy into childhood) and during the acquisition of adult expertise. My work examines the importance of experience and how different experiences lead to different developmental outcomes. I utilize measures of looking time and eye-fixations using eye-tracking as well as electrophysiological and structural measures of brain development (EEG, MRI) to better understand how infants, children, and adults attend to, perceive, and learn about the surrounding world. My work lies at the intersection of developmental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, social perception, and early childhood education.
